My high school self was pretty excited when Anberlin brought their Tour de Vital to Irving Plaza on March 20th. Stephen Christian and his crew plugged their latest LP Vital, which was released under Universal Republic back at the end of 2012.

Anberlin is one of those bands where I’m always excited for them to come around, but something always comes up and I can never make it. Luckily, this wasn’t the case last night and I finally got to catch their show in New York City. The gig had a pretty solid line-up, with All Get Out and Paper Route opening up the show. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of either band prior to the show, but they were definitely a great fit for this tour.

By the time Anberlin took the stage, the crowd was already pretty amped from the openers. The five-man rock/alternative band from Florida stole the stage at 9:30pm, starting strong with “The Resistance”, followed by “Paperthin Hymn” and “We Owe This To Ourselves”.

Despite the perils of shooting a concert from a packed photo pit with unpredictable lighting, and a spastic lead singer constantly running around, it was a great show regardless.

Check out Anberlin’s full set-list from the show below.
