Yeeaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s Nic Cester’s signature scream. The band, Jet (Nic Cester on Vox and guitar, brother Chris Cester on drums, Cameron Muncey on guitar and vox and Mark Wilson on bass) was playing The Fillmore in Philadelphia, and Nic made damn sure the crowd knew they were back in the States. Jet is currently on the road in North America for a string of 14 dates, following up on their 2024 tour to celebrate their debut album.”Get Born”, released in back in 2003. The four-piece is working on some new material for their fourth album, and have already released a highly energetic and catchy song titled “Hurry Hurry” which was also played during the show. The new album will follow up the band’s “Shaka Rock”, that came out in 2009.
I last saw Jet on their “Shine On” tour in 2006 – the band members may look a bit different now, but the entire band sounded fresh, and was ready to rock in Philly. The setlist was mostly from the “Get Born” album & “Shine On”, and they even closed their set with an amazing cover version of fellow countrymen AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll).
At one point Nic stood on top of brother Chris Cester’s bass drum and jumped off. He didn’t quite stick the landing (I’d give it a 7.5), but kept playing his guitar despite being on his back. Luckily he was fine, but Chris was cracking up from his point of view!
I’m sure I speak for a lot of folks out there, that this band needs to be more active with touring and releasing new music. There’s so much talent and creativity to let sit idle for so long. Can’t wait for the new album to drop!
