Robin Trower is back out on the road again after a setback last year which caused the British blues rocker to postpone all of his tour 2024 dates. Performing in support of his 2025 release “Come & Find Me”, Trower shows no signs of slowing down at the age of 80.

Despite having a new release less than a month before this show, most of the set tonight was focused on music from “Bridge of Sighs” and the 2022 release “No More Worlds to Conquer”. The mostly quiet Trower came on stage, greeted the crowd and got right to business with “The Razor’s Edge”. The first thing you can’t help but notice is his tone. The tone that he gets out of his Strat is so fat and raw – only a tone you can get from a Stratocaster. The other thing you notice is how energetic he is and the fact that he still plays with the vigor and emotion of a twenty-something. We should all be so lucky!

His current touring band consists of multi-instrumentalist Richard Watts on vocals and bass, and Chris Taggart on drums. The three piece band sounded great. Halfway through their set, they started into “Bridge of Sighs” and as I watched Robin play, I watched how zoned in he was and the emotion that he plays with, and it physically shows in the expressions on his face, despite having played this song for many years. A few fans called out for “Daydream” throughout the show, and they were finally treated to a 10 minute version of it. They weren’t left disappointed, myself included. The last song of the set was “Little Bit of Sympathy” and this was played with fire and fury. Nothing was held back here. The band came back on stage and did 2 encores before ending their 90 minute set.

Playing a casino gig can sometimes be hit or miss. You never know how many comp tickets get given out for a show, or if the people attending even know who an artist is, but the crowd that attended this show were all part of Trower Power. They were very involved throughout the show, moving their heads to the rhythm and standing for applause multiple times during the show. Even Trower seemed more talkative than normal! What everyone in attendance saw that night was a music icon who continues to carry the torch of Rock n’ Roll. The band is doing an extensive tour and will be on the road until the end of October 2025.
