Today Yeah Yeah Yeahs present “Hidden in Pieces”, a short film about the band, directed by Barnaby Clay. What makes it YYY’s day? The NYC trio explains:
On 9/24/00 the three of us hit the stage for the first time at the Mercury Lounge NYC. The gig was booked very much in YYY’s fashion; before we had a band assembled. We were 1st of 4 bands including Candy Darlings, Kid Congo, and the White Stripes. Our friend Jack Martin guested on a couple songs. We played for a total of 20 minutes to a handful of friends and stragglers, before the crowd showed up- and that’s how bands are born!
To celebrate our birthday, Barney’s stunning film Hidden in Pieces enjoys a wide release. It’s a heavenly portal to the Hidden in Pieces live shows for those of you who didn’t see it live.
