The Inaugural Boardwalk Rock Festival in Ocean City, Maryland kicked off Day 1 with an array of acts ranging from Kat Von D, ex L.A. tattoo artist turned musician, to Brit rockers Def Leppard. While Motley Crue, Alice In Chains, and 3 Doors Down all dropped from the event for medical reasons, on very short notice, Rob Zombie was able to fill in, and his set went off as planned.
Now, all that aside, Day 1 went off without any issues, and the area that encompasses Boardwalk Rock had plenty of space for fans to enjoy beautiful weather and concerts on the beach. The festival was completely sold out, and it was evident by the crowds. Artists from all decades were in attendance too – 80’s band Extreme put on a great, energetic set, and then you had an amazing set by Mammoth, Wolfgang Van Halen’s band. He’s an amazing artist who had an exceptional teacher.
Other highlights of Day 1 included an energetic performance by Rob Zombie – he always brings his “A” game. And despite filling in at the last minute, they put on a great show. Halestorm closed out the “Bolt” Stage with lots of hard rocking guitar and showcasing Lzzy Hale’s vocal prowess. They were very appreciative to be there. To close out Saturday, headliners Def Leppard delivered a 90 minute, hit-packed set. All rockers, no filler.
Up next, stay tuned for Sunday’s coverage!!!
