Jack Antonoff of Bleachers and fun. fame is set to host the first ever Shadow of the City Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey this September. Bleachers will headline, and they will be joined by Charli XCX, Vic Mensa, The Front Bottoms, Robert DeLong, Misterwives, How To Dress Well, and Cults.
Antonoff, a Jersey native, says, “I’ve spent almost my entire life in New Jersey and there is a hope and anthemic quality that is in the music born there that comes directly from being in the shadows of one of the greatest cities in the world. It’s forever a shitty younger brother. Growing up in NJ I didn’t understand how incredible this was. It’s not till later in life that I realize it is at the core of who I am. Someone who grew up in the shadow of the city and always felt less than and used music to create something bigger. I want to do this festival for the rest of my life and am so proud of its inaugural year.”
The event will also feature carnival games, food trucks and more.
