We told you five of our must-see bands at SXSW, and we are back with five more as there are countless acts to see during the festival next week, March 13-19 in Austin, Texas. The most fun festival of the year can be overwhelming as a music fan with so many great bands playing, literally, in so little time. We are hoping to make it a little easier by highlighting some of our favorite artists playing the festival! I mean, go on, check out the schedule here and try not to find at least 50 bands you love. Yeah, we know. Buy your music pass to SXSW now.

Sundara Karma
Reading’s finest, Sundara Karma, have been setting the world on fire with their music and epic live performances for the past year before even releasing their debut album January of this year. Their nostalgic, story-telling lyrics and vocals over catchy, slaying instrumentals leave one singing from the top of their lungs while dancing with their entire being. I mean, just listen to “Olympia” and try not to get involved immediately. Sundara Karma will be playing March 17th at Stubb’s at 7:30PM then at Buffalod Billiards at 11:40PM, and next Saturday March 18th at, one of my favorite SXSW venues, Latitude 30 at midnight.

S U R V I V E
Hey, did you like Stranger Things? No shit you did…you, your best friend, your mom, your dog, your 3 year-old-niece. Why was that show good, every reason for sure…but especially that soundtrack that transported you back and into the greatest 80s adventure movie. S U R V I V E are also known as ‘The Stranger Things Band’. I got to see them live on none-other-than HALLOWEEN because Dave P. is a Philadelphia King and booked them for one of the dopest parties in the nation, Making Time. Two words: fog and lasers. Make that three, ambiance, four heavy bass that shakes your bones out through your skin, five synths. Yeah, see you at all of their shows at SXSW. Also, THEY’RE FROM AUSTIN, support your local badass band.

Tei Shi
Let me take a minute on International Women’s Day to shout out my Argentine Queen Tei Shi. This badass megababe can float through the scales so effortlessly while telling an intricate story with her lyrics, making you dance to your life story throughout her live set. You can catch her at Empire Control Room & Garage on March 15th at 8:30PM and again at 11PM at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Don’t miss this incredible artist live! Pre-order her new album Crawl Space out March 31st here.

Temples
Spacey rock gods Temples float in on a cloud from the Midlands to play SXSW this year and we absolutely cannot wait to put glitter on our face and catch them live again. Temples will have you floating on a cloud straight out of Austin, no joke. Just listen to their new single “Certainty”, are you kidding me? It sounds like something out of my boyfriend’s Dad’s recently uncovered vinyl collection treasures, and I mean that as a major compliment. Temples play at The Gatsby on March 14 at 8:30PM, on March 15th at 5PM At Radio Day Stage Austin Convention Center and outdoor at Mohawk later that night at 8:15PM.

Slaves
UK punk bromance of the year award goes to? The two kings in Slaves that will literally blow your face off with rock with a less than 15 second long song, and they’ve done it at SXSW before. So now that they’re back, be prepared to be electrified even more as they get better and somehow more energetic with each show they play. Their new album Take Control is gritty, raw, heart-pounding rock’n’roll mixed with the sweat of their live shows delivered politely to a vinyl player near you. They headline a very sick lineup at Huw Stephen’s party via BBC Radio 1 Presents at Latitude 30 at 1AM on March 14th which is always the true kickoff to the music festival for me every year.
