Philly has seen quite a few snowstorms this winter, including a pretty major one last Thursday. You couldn’t park on most roads by city order, and driving felt like ice luge practice for the Olympics. But nothing stopped fans of Irish band Kodaline who came to town to play World Cafe Live with LP as support that night.

The crowd filled up the venue downstairs, and were full of energy the second Kodaline walked on stage. With a crowd ranging from kids to rowdy adults, fans of Kodaline seem to be both eclectic and enthusiastic. Even though one fan took “Thirsty Thursday” too seriously and puked in the middle of the dance floor, by the end of the show, I’m pretty sure people were standing in it just to be closer to the Irish dream team onstage.

After playing a mesmerizing set, the band came out to play an encore and surprised the crowd by jumping off stage to do an acoustic tune at the back of the venue. The quartet jumped back on stage to continue their encore with a track that didn’t make their album, A Perfect World, but means a lot to the band, called “The Answer”. Finally, the boys ended their set with fan favorite, “All I Want”.

All in all, each song was an explosive singalong capable of warming up the whole of Philadelphia. Kodaline were completely worth trekking through a snowstorm for, and if you haven’t seen them live yet, you must try to catch them on the rest of their tour. The band is heading south to play Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas before setting their sights on the West Coast. Check out tour dates below and get your tickets here!
