The Immediate Family wrapped up their November tour at the Ardmore Music Hall last Sunday. The all-star band, consisting of Danny Kortchmar (guitar/vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar/vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar/vocals), is touring in support of their self titled release “The Immediate Family”. They are all well-known session musicians, that have performed or wrote some of your favorite songs. Some of the artists they have worked with include Don Henley, Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, Phil Collins and Linda Ronstadt, just to name a few. In short, these guys have been around, and are still in great demand for their skills.

The show started off with “Fair Warning”, a great opener with a driving bass line supplied by Leland Sklar and some fine guitar work from Waddy, Danny and Steve. In addition to the original songs some, “original covers” were peppered throughout the 90 minute set. These would include song’s by Don Henley, Warren Zevon and Jackson Browne. The main set ended with a great version of Zevon’s “Werewolves of London” and yes, his hair is still perfect! The final 2 songs of the night were ‘Cruel Twist’, a song released on the “Slipin’ and Slidin’ EP, and a new song called “High Maintenance Girlfriend”, that the band hopes to include on their next album, with a release date sometime next year.

If you want to catch these guys live, you’ll have to wait till February, 2022, when they play a pair of shows in Florida. Don’t miss out. Go and see live music again!!
