Polyrhythmics have shared a new single, “Spider Wolf”, from their upcoming album, ‘Caldera,’ which is set for a September 22 release. The Seattle-based nine-piece weave rich instrumentals reminiscent of “everything from Antibalas and the Dap-Kings to The Meters and Fela Kuti.”

Named for the smoldering crater left after a volcanic eruption, ‘Caldera’ was written during a band retreat to rural Oregon, where Polyrhythmics embraced truly collaborative songwriting for the first time during a marathon session in the shadow of Mt. Hood (itself an active volcano).

Check out “Spider Wolf” below and catch Polyrhythmics on tour through September (including a local stop at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn).
